Sony Confirmed That No Hardware Announcement Will Be Made At E3 2018

Sony recently confirmed via the PlayStation Blogcast that players should not expect any hardware news this coming E3. Instead, the company revealed that their attendance at E3 would be used to promote upcoming games such as Death Stranding, Ghost of Tsushima, and The Last of Us Part II.

The news was confirmed by Shawn Layden the CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment America who said in the Blogcast that there would be “no new hardware announcement at E3 this year.”

Of course, the main hardware news that gamers have been waiting from Sony is the announcement on the PlayStation 5. However, looking at the history of the company, it is still too early for Sony to announce the successor of the PlayStation 4, which will celebrate its 5th year in the market this November. Unfortunately, this would also mean that Sony does not have anything lined up for the PlayStation VR this E3.

Sony’s PlayStation 4 is still doing pretty well in the market today especially after the release of a more beefier PS4 Pro and the PS4 Slim. Sony’s E3 2018 conference will happen on June 11 at 6 PM PT.
