Two weeks after Spider-Man’s initial release, the game was able to sell 3.3 million copies in its first three days making it the fastest selling first-party PlayStation game of all time. Moreover, Spider-Man also broke another record for Sony after pre-orders for the game reached one million copies.
USA Today reported the sales figures for Marvel’s Spider-Man who now holds the title of the fastest-selling PlayStation Exclusive of all time, a milestone previously held by God of War that sold 3.1 million copies during the first three days after release.
Sony’s global senior vice president for the PlayStation gave Marvel and Insomniac Games for all the achievements of the latest iteration of Spider-Man. “It’s met and exceeded all expectations. I think the company and the campus, and our fans are super proud of it.”
Given the tremendous hype for this game prior to its release, it is not at all surprising that Spider-Man is doing well. Of course, it is impressive that the game was able to achieve all those milestones despite being released exclusively to the PlayStation 4. Imagine what the game could accomplish if it was available on all platforms.
