Splitgate was a phenomenon when it released, combining the look and feel of Halo with the mechanics of Portal, it made a unique shooter on the market.
1047 Games, the developers for the first Splitgate worked on the game until September 2022, after which the game has been runnning on autopilot and it still has a fairly active community. However the cinematic trailer shows a promising sequel, but gameplay will still speak volumes.
The description in the trailer also goes really hard and tells us a bit about what we can expect from the sequel.
“Suit up and portal into the action as an elite Ace in Splitgate 2. Dash around the battlefield as the agile Aeros, control the chaos as the time-manipulating Meridian, or devastate your opponents with the raw power of the Sabrask. Take control on Ozone--a flying super yacht --while your friends hold off the other team portalling in from all sides. Find your moment, then claim victory and the spotlight as 100,000 fans cheer you on.”
While the trailer looks promising, I will look forward to the gameplay trailer in the future.
Splitgate 2 will release on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series consoles.
