Do you miss the days of being able to play with your friends on the same couch in the same room? Yeah I do too… Life happens and sometimes getting together just isn’t an option anymore. Thankfully online play has been a thing for a while to get friends together no matter where they are. This hasn’t worked for every game though as some are built for local play in mind. Now there is an option for these games with Steam Remote Play Together!
Steam Remote Play Together is a new streaming feature for the platform that lets a user stream their game out to friends to play with them. Only the person hosting the session needs to own the game allowing even friends who don’t have the title get in on the action. Users will be able to play remotely using Valve’s existing Steam Link apps for iOS and Android as well as on a PC. Inputs will then be directed to the host machine. As with all streaming services input delay might be a concern depending on the internet connections in use.
Still, this is a cool addition to Steam that I think many will be happy for. I am curious if the service will also work on non Steam games launched through it. If so it could become an ideal replacement for Parsec. Anyways, I am off to test out some Steam Remote Play Together!
What do you all think of Steam Remote Play Together and which game will you play with it first?
