Super Nintendo World Is Finally Giving Me a Reason to Go Back — Thanks to Super Mario Galaxy

I always love walking through the warp pipe into SUPER NINTENDO WORLD. The music, the colors, the moving platforms—it really does feel like stepping straight into a Mario level. But if you’ve visited more than once, especially without kids, you might know the feeling: after a ride on Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge and a few question block punches, there isn’t always a big reason to stick around.

That’s why I’m happy to see Universal adding limited-time events to the land.

From March 10th through April 13th, Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando Resort will celebrate the upcoming The Super Mario Galaxy Movie with special experiences in SUPER NINTENDO WORLD and at CityWalk. It’s not a massive event, but it’s exactly the kind of thing that makes the land feel worth revisiting.

One of the highlights is a limited-time Yoshi meet-and-greet, something that honestly feels like it should have been there from the start. There will also be themed snacks like the Rosalina Cupcake—a blue velvet cupcake with blueberry cheesecake filling—and Galaxy Popcorn covered in edible glitter.

Universal is also introducing interactive Luma shoulder pals, which light up and react to each other when they’re close together, along with a galaxy-themed photo opportunity at CityWalk.

Overall, it’s a small celebration, but it’s the kind of thing SUPER NINTENDO WORLD needs more of. The land is incredible, but events like this finally give me a reason to head back through that warp pipe—and celebrating Super Mario Galaxy feels like the perfect excuse.
