It’s amazing to see how people come together when a tragedy befalls a country. The efforts that go in to help rebuild and recuperate never cease to amaze me. While it can never take back the horrible tragedies that happen, it is always good to keep at least one step moving forward.
As the events unfold in the war between Russia and Ukraine, the majority of the world knew who was in the wrong and immediately put efforts into helping Ukraine. For the average person, this meant donating towards the relief funds. Many celebrities and sponsors took it upon themselves to raise money, but so did a multitude of gamers, game developers, and publishers. Just to name a few, Assemble Entertainment, 11 bit studios, Humble Bundle, and Epic Games via Fortnite, all held charity sales.
In the end, all of the teams within the gaming community that put efforts into raising funds for Ukraine reached a total of $195,258,400 as of April 2022. At the top of the charity chart, raising $144M by themselves, is Epic Games+Microsoft. This information is known thanks to the team over at Levvvel who have compiled a full list that reveals the full breakdown of all funds raised.
It’s just astonishing to see how much we have put in as a community and it truly shows how much good the gaming community can do when we work together!
