Hope in a Bleak World
We are surrounded today by amazing gaming technologies that bring us the latest in 4k graphics, online connectivity, and surreal experiences that are beyond what I ever thought possible. That being said, gaming online, in general, has become a depressing even toxic experience. I remember some of the fun early days of World of Warcraft on PC and Call of Duty on Xbox 360 but since then, my online gaming experiences overall have been negative.
In short, I have been absolutely blown away with the amazing community of the recently launched World of Warcraft: Classic in more ways than one. First off, I wasn’t expecting much human interaction at all when I first dived into the game. Ten minutes in, I got invited to a guild. At first, I shrugged it off and didn’t care to play with a group of strangers. Then I thought, this is Classic, why not?!
Fast forward to present and I’ve had more fun, help, and good times with my Classic guild in the past three weeks than I have in the past 7 years on any other online games. People group up to quest, chat, help each other out. It’s genuine, refreshing and gives me hope in humanity in a world swirling in negativity.
Say what you will about World of Warcraft, love or hate, Classic has already a huge hit and the amazing people and adventures that await are some of the best I’ve had in recent memory. I’m taking it easy, not rushing to reach level cap, exploring, conversing and loving every minute of it…
