THE LAST OF US Is In Talks Of Getting A TV Series, But I'm Still Skeptical

Once again we are here with hopes and anticipation that one of our favorite game series is going to turn into a TV or movie adaptation for us to enjoy the story in a shorter, single entertaining session. The latest game to get this promise is The Last Of Us from Naughty Dog. Thanks to the coverage from The Hollywood Reporter, we have received word that the game’s writer, Neil Druckmann, and Craig Mazin, creator of the popular series Chernobyl, are currently discussing turning the game into a series.

Personally, I feel like this is good news yet possibly hype news. Of course, if everything goes well and they do end up turning it into a series then this is nothing but good news and I can’t wait for the show to begin production! However, how many times have we been told a movie or TV series adaptation was in the works and it really wasn’t or production fell through? I think I need a little more than the first step that doesn’t even include production.

Don’t get me wrong, this news is more than we got with a few of the other rumored shows, so chances are good for this one! I will have to suggest that you remain skeptical of it becoming true because of how quickly things fall through once they start trying to put it all together. The names behind the starting idea of this project are one hell of a good start though, so they got my hopes and hype up. Hopefully, this isn’t another letdown.

About the show itself, they are talking about making it a slightly altered version of the game story itself. You would get to see things played out not only in Joel and Ellie’s point-of-view but also in the actions their characters would have actually taken. The game allows players to decide to go through sneaking or fighting the action, but how would the pair have really handled things? On top of the game story, they plan on implementing segments of the storyline from The Last of Us Part II into it. Possibly some added foreshadowing throughout the beginning and a planned ahead Season 2? Everything is so early on that we just don’t know exactly what to expect.

Here’s the actual report video from The Hollywood Reporter that shared the initial news of The Last Of Us TV series possibility (start at 1 minute 55 seconds):
