As expected, Blizzard has confirmed that the Summer Games event for Overwatch will be making a comeback this month, featuring the soccer-inspired Lucioball mode. Moreover, a new arena located in Busan, South Korea is being added this year, together with the existing Rio de Janeiro and Sydney maps.
Blizzard announced the return of the Summer Games via Twitter, which will run from August 9th to August 30th. Besides the new arena that will be included in the game, this year’s Lucioball will retain its previous mechanics, which will allow players to team up in a 3v3 brawl.
Concerning cosmetic items, Blizzard also unveiled on Twitter that new skins will start with characters D.Va and Reinhardt. The event will keep the sports and summer theme, which is reflected in the new skins such as a football-inspired armor for Reinhardt and a life vest for D. Va together with a jet ski transformation for her mech. Moreover, players will earn Summer Games loot boxes, which will not only contain new items but will also include last year’s loot.
