Nightdive Studios and Prime Matter have announced that their highly anticipated remake, System Shock, has officially gone gold! The 1994 cult classic that helped spawn the likes of BioShock will be launching on May 30th for PC. It has been a long journey for Nightdive Studios, nearly 7 years in the making since the start of its Kickstarter back in 2016. Fans will finally be able to dive into the Citadel Station and survive the likes of the evil A.I. SHODAN.
The game is launching at $39.99 and will include a free copy of System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition for those who pre-order the game. The System Shock remake will also launch on consoles at a later date in the near future but no news of an exact timeframe just yet. For those interested in trying the game before buying, you can play the free demo now.
Any fans of the BioShock series will feel right at home with System Shock. The immersive sim and narrative-driven FPS gameplay all derived from this original title. BioShock was essentially a spiritual successor to System Shock 2 and it did exceptionally well critically and financially.
System Shock launches on PC via Steam, GOG, and EGS on May 30th. It will also launch on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One in the near future.
