Back in 2012 Under Night In-Birth released in Japanese arcades and combined visual novel storytelling with a fighting game. A major revision was released soon after dubbed Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late that brought about various balance changes and additional characters. The game was subsequently ported to consoles and PC’s over the years where it was able to attain a cult following. Another revision followed in 2017, Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[st], and now in 2019 Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[cl-r] has just been announced!
“The 2D fighting community has been incredibly supportive, and we are as excited about this new chapter in the Under Night In-Birth series as they are. With the introduction of a new character, the entire game has been carefully rebalanced and perfected for the greatest possible anime fighting experience to date.”
Developer French Bread has taken the opportunity with this latest revision to Under Night In-Birth to further improve balance and optimization between characters. A new playable character has also been revealed with the ice fighter Londrekia. From the trailer above, it looks like this new fighter comes equipped with a long sword and specials involve, unsurprisingly, ice. An Ice cross finisher is also displayed and looks marvelously brutal! Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[cl-r] is expected to launch in 2020 for PC, PS4 and Switch so keep an eye out.
