Enchantments received some adjustments for Minecraft Dungeons 2 that should make using them more seamless and stress-free than in its predecessor. Enchantments allow players to imbue their armor, artifacts, and weapons with magical abilities that will aid them in combat. However, players will need to progress with the main story to gain access to enchantments, and they’ll also need to find Enchantment Books that are vital in enchanting perks to armor and weapons. For players unfamiliar or who just need a refresher on enchantments, here’s how to unlock and use them in Minecraft Dungeons 2.
What are Enchantments in Minecraft Dungeons 2?
Once players have defeated enemy mobs, overworld bosses, or rift and dungeon bosses, they'll often drop Emeralds, Echo Shards, an armor piece, an artifact, and a weapon that has slots for enchantments. Enchantments are magical perks that grant armor pieces and weapons enhanced effects that can aid you when challenging harder bosses and larger enemy mobs, especially in dungeons and rifts.
How they work is that every armor piece and weapon has slots for enchantments, and some are unique to the armor type and weapon. For example, a melee weapon will have access to enchantments for jump attacks and increased speed when defeating enemies, while a ranged weapon has access to a piercing enchantment.
Once these enchantments have been imbued onto an armor piece or weapon, you have the option to add a different enchantment or upgrade an existing perk. Adding enchantments to armor and weapons requires you to collect Enchantment Books, which are acquired by completing quests and exploring dungeons and rifts.
Collecting as many Enchantment Books as possible allows you to imbue different magical perks for some lethal combinations, but enchanting armor and weapons requires Echo Shards and Enchantment Points.
Finally, to make this process possible, an Enchantsmith is required. You’ll need to complete the quest Training with the Enchantsmith to send them back to Brave Haven town square to set up shop, at which point their services will become available.
How to enchant armor and weapons in Minecraft Dungeons 2
With the aforementioned quest completed, you can find an Enchantsmith in Brave Haven by locating their icon and traveling to the shop. Speak to them to start enchanting items, from which you can choose a melee or ranged weapon or any armor piece of your choosing.
Next, you can select an Enchantment you wish to add a magical perk to, and once that option is selected, you can proceed to enchant the item, which will cost an Echo Shard and one Enchantment Point. Enchantment Points are earned each time you gain a new character level, and you can have Enchantment Points refunded when that armor piece or weapon is salvaged or disenchanted.
Upgrading the enchantment will cost more Enchantment Points, so do keep a close eye on the Enchantment Points accumulated or disenchant weapons to refund them. You can use the same Enchantment Book on multiple items, so once the armor and weapon are equipped, your character has those magical perks until they equip a different item or the perk is disenchanted.
