It isn’t often these days that a game reveal is both unexpected and strangely enticing. Somehow, the indie Japanese team at Bokeh Game Studio has pulled this off with the reveal of Slitterhead at The Game Awards. As a horror fan, seeing this reveal was pretty exciting as it gave off the impression of mixing the game Silent Hill and the anime series Parasyte into one single experience. Ultimately, that makes sense as the creator of the Silent Hill and Siren series, Keiichiro Toyama, is the man behind this new studio.
There hasn’t been a lot of details revealed for the game just yet, but it seems like it is going to have an action-first approach to the gameplay. The teaser shows off a few characters using powers to aid them in their fight against these otherworldly and outlandish enemies. As for the world it takes place in, it seems to be a partial dystopia - almost as though it hasn’t fully been destroyed yet and there is still hope for humanity to overcome a rise in these unique threats.
Slitterhead still has a lot of information to unveil moving forward, but it is definitely a very intriguing title. I look forward to seeing what is going on in this game and learning more about the characters, environment, and creatures. There have been no platforms announced for the title either, so we will just have to wait and see what they reveal next.
