Write The Next Great Story With STORYTELLER

Storyteller, a new game from Annapurna Interactive and Dan Benmergui, was revealed at the Annapurna Interactive Showcase earlier this week. The announcement trailer showed what players can expect when they get their hands on this storybook-inspired, puzzle game.

In the game players will take on the role of the author, filling out story panels based on a prompt at the top of the page. Some of the puzzles shown included simple prompts like “Story of a Tragedy” and much more complicated ones, such as “Cured from Vampirism.”

The trailer showed off an impressive amount of creative possibility that allows players to make a wide variety of stories to meet the prompts. The characters will also react to their environments in different ways depending on if the story makes sense or not.

Dan Benmergui is an independent developer from Argentina known for games like Fidel Dungeon Rescue and Night Raveler. His collaborators for Storyteller are Zypce, who is doing the sound design and music, and Jeremias Babini, who is doing art and co-designing the game with Benmergui.

No specific details were given about when Storyteller is expected to release other than that it’s “coming soon.” When it does launch it will be available on the Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. A playable demo is available now on Steam.
