Ys X: Proud Nordics Washes Original Game With Improvements For Switch 2 and PC

NIS America has announced Ys X: Proud Nordics is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 and PC early 2026. The game is an extended edition of Ys X: Nordics, complete with quality-of-life improvements and a brand new storyline surrounding the mysterious island of Öland.

The adventures of 17-year-old adventurers Adol and Karja will be upgraded with enhanced graphics, new combat mechanics, the extremely challenging timed dungeon Muspelheim, and a couple of siblings named Canute and Astrid, who will help fight a horde of monsters called the Griegr alongside them the second they arrive at Öland Island. They’ll also be equipped with a new ability called Mana Hold, allowing them to manipulate the world around them.

Ys X: Proud Nordics already came out for the Nintendo Switch 2 in Japan on July 31 and released in China and Korea three weeks later. Why NIS America scheduled its American release for early next year is unknown, but it might have to do with localization. Maybe a spring release is in the cards?
