5 Beginner Tips for Pragmata

Contrary to what you might believe if you boot up Pragmata blindly, Capcom’s action-adventure game is not a regular third-person shooter. With new gameplay mechanics to master and lots of items to aid your deadly travel across the Moon, you might find yourself in need of some assistance.

Luckily for you, we’ve got you covered. There’s definitely a bit of a learning curve at first, but should you follow the tips below, you’ll find yourself blasting through Pragmata without breaking a sweat.

Learn to hack, man

The very first thing you’ll find out while playing Pragmata is that your guns will barely scratch the robot shells. Luckily for you, Diana will intervene, hacking the robots and forcing them to expose their weak insides, which are allergic to gunfire.

This is where the learning curve lies. While moving and dodging robot attacks, you’ll have to input commands to traverse through the nodes in the robot's digital board, eventually reaching the green one to successfully hack it. Your hacking will be powered while traversing through blue nodes, as well as additional nodes that will turn the tide of the battle in your favor, which you will unlock later.

Keeping your distance is a must, as you’ll have to keep robots in sight while hacking to allow Diana to do her thing. If you’re about to get hit, however, you can stop the hacking halfway and dodge any incoming fire or melee attack. You’ll be able to resume hacking as long as you aren’t hit.

Don’t go guns blazing, be strategic

As soon as you get hold of more powerful guns, you might be thinking it’s the best idea to fire your burst and explosive shots immediately. You might be thinking that, and you are most definitely wrong.

Truth is, you’ll probably be better off using your Grip Gun the most. Your attack, tactical, and defense weapons have limited ammo, and once that runs out, the gun disappears. Therefore, shooting any of these must be situational.

For example, if you are overwhelmed with killer bots, shooting the Riot Blaster or the Stasis Net might give you some room to breathe. If one of the big robots is down and staggered, then using your powerful Shockwave Gun or Charge pIercer to deal the most amount of damage is the way to go.

Overall, treasure your ammo and use it sparingly… and only if it means getting rid of those damn dirty robots.

Lunafilament farming is a must

And since we’re talking about guns, you know what's also a very wise choice? To upgrade them. And what do you need to upgrade them? Lunafilament, Pragmata’s most common, albeit most important currency.

Lunafilament is all over the Moon, and picking it up will almost come unintentionally. But you must seek it if you wish to become more powerful. Clear Red Zones, engage and defeat powerful robots across the Moon’s levels (they respawn when you return from the Shelter), explore and open up chests, and backtrack to clear areas that were previously inaccessible.

That way, you’ll be able to not only upgrade your weapons, but your hacking nodes, abilities, and attachments, too. Which leads me to…

Returning to the Shelter is probably a wise choice

Traversing through the Cradle will most likely leave you without weapon ammo, hacking nodes, and with dangerously low health. Thankfully, there are tramways scattered across each level that act as checkpoints that will allow you to travel to the Shelter to regain your health, change your loadout, and even save the game.

While you can probably go through an entire Cradle level without returning to the Shelter, doing so will allow you to upgrade your equipment and even update your Suit, your Grip Gun, and Diana’s hacking with Upgrade Components.

The only downside is that all robots will respawn upon your return to the Cradle. Given that you’ll probably be stronger this time around, they might not even pose a threat to you any longer.

Don’t forget to scan

Finally, if you’re struggling with finding all the collectibles hidden in the Cradle, using Diana’s scan ability is the way to go! This will point the way toward Read Earth Memories (REMs), Upgrade Components, Pure Lunum, and chests. As a result, you’ll have more resources to spend on your equipment upgrades, which will increase your survival chances in the Cradle.

Pragmata is available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
