Apogee Entertainment May 2026 Indie Spotlight

With a bunch of titles under its sleeve, it’s time for me to shine a spotlight on two of the games they are publishing (they are even developing one of them!). I’m happy to spoil some of my impressions by saying that both Littlelands and Vexlands (landlikes, if you will) provided me with a good time.

So, if you’re intrigued, here are two games that will eventually (and hopefully) make their way to your Steam library.

Littlelands (Demo)

Booting up Littlelands was a mystery in itself, as its art transported me to the good old simulation games, which are often not my type of entertainment. Still, I was ready to give it a chance. Then, I soon found out that it is a sandboxy, action-adventure game filled with exploration and social interaction. At that very moment, I was a happy fellow.

Developed by Rafael Martin and Kyle Cramer, Littlelands starts with a little fetch quest, but as you interact with the NPCs around you, it will expand increasingly in many ways. Whether someone needs help or a random interaction grants you new abilities, the game keeps you engaged and swinging your weapon like there’s no tomorrow.

Also, the fact that greeting people drains your energy made me feel so seen that I’ll gladly give this game a go once its 1.0 version eventually releases.

Vexlands (Demo)

Exploration meets adventure meets crafting meets survival. That’s what Vexlands is. After creating your character, you’re sent to a blank world that you’ll need to unlock one tile at a time using gold.

Each new patch of land you unlock will provide resources, items, secrets, and even dungeons for you to pick up and explore. Then, with those discoveries, you’ll be able to craft new gear and expand your base to keep unlocking the world, and, of course, face the threats that it hides behind the mysterious mist.

Overall, Vexlands is an addictive game that I’m looking forward to. After all, every man needs his gaming obsession refueled from time to time.
