If you like hopping around rooftops in Arc Raiders when you’re not searching for goodies like Motors or Cooling Fans, you’ll enjoy completing the Unexpected Initiative quest. This quest from Tian Wen has you search the rooftops of two buildings in Buried City, as she needs materials for her personal greenhouse.
The specific areas you need to search can be somewhat tough to spot, especially when you’re trying to find the right roof at Piazza Roma. Let’s go step-by-step on the Unexpected Initiative quest in Arc Raiders.
How to finish the Unexpected Initiative quest in Arc Raiders
In one round in Arc Raiders, you must complete these tasks in the Unexpected Initiative quest:
Reach the Grandioso Apartments in Buried City
Search for a Moisture Meter on the Rooftop of the Grandioso Apartments
Reach Piazza Roma in Buried City
Search for a Nutrient Meter in the broken rooftop gardens at Piazza Roma
Where to find the Moisture Meter at Grandioso Apartments
Once you arrive at Grandioso Apartments, head inside and find the zipline that takes you to the highest floor. You’ll need to head up some stairs to reach the roof, so make your way up until you find a corner of the roof with gardening supplies.
You’ll be able to search for the Moisture Meter by two pots with soil inside. You can now leave and head toward Piazza Roma, which is north of this location.
Where to find the Nutrient Meter at Piazza Roma
Find your way up to the roof on the map above. To do so, you will have to take the zipline available up to the building with the broken rooftop garden. You can enter the building in more than one way, but I found the zipline makes the trek faster.
Eventually, you’ll find a stairwell that gets you up to the roof, where you’ll find the Nutrient Meter near a tank and tub of dirt. After searching for this, you should have completed the quest.
Sadly, some players have noted this quest being bugged in December 2025. Still, if everything on the quest is checked off, you should be good to go back to Speranza and speak with Tian Wen to wrap things up.
