Yesterday, Battlefield V has revealed the Gamescom trailer, called Devastation of Rotterdam, which showcased the upcoming battle royale mode of the game that is a new feature in the Battlefield series.
The trailer showed Battlefield’s approach on how they plan to bring players closer together in the field in the game’s take on the last man standing mode. Popular battle royale games such as Fortnite uses a storm that closes in from the edge of the map right down to the middle, forcing players to come in direct contact with each other. In Battlefield V, a ring of fire is seen slowly shrinking the play space, which we assume would serve the same purpose.
It may not be a detailed preview of the battle royale mode, but it more than what was shown at E3. Moreover, the upcoming game will see the return of the War Stories, which are short episodes focusing on the events of World War II. Lastly, Battlefield V will also dump Premium Passes and replace it with The Tides of War, which will be a live service that aims to continuously add content such as maps to the game for free.
Battlefield V is scheduled to release on October 19, 2018, for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
