In a few weeks from now, Battlefield V will be launched, but players can expect that no microtransactions will be present on day one as EA DICE announced. Microtransactions will be added post-launch, which will allow players to purchase in-game currency called Battlefield currency for in-game cosmetic items.
“We want players to get hands-on experience with their Company, the progression system, and earning Company Coin before introducing premium currency,” EA DICE announced. “Balanced rock-paper-scissors gameplay has always been the foundation of the Battlefield series, and our belief is that real-world money should not enable pay-to-win or pay-for-power.”
It is worth remembering that Company Coin is different from the Battlefield Currency as players can only earn the former by playing through the game. Company Coin can then be used to upgrade weapons and vehicles, and to purchase in-game skins. The Battlefield Currency, on the other hand, will only be limited to “specific cosmetic items for your Company.”
Battlefield V releases on November 20, for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
