Dice Throne Digital, the upcoming adaptation of the wildly popular tabletop combat game, is officially ready to reveal its launch hero roster. And we’re especially excited to share that the team behind Dice Throne Digital trusted us here at GameTyrant to exclusively reveal the heroes on that roster. I couldn’t be more excited about this opportunity, Dice Throne is literally the board game that got me fully into the board gaming hobby and I make sure to stop by their booth at PAX West every year.
Mirroring the original tabletop release, the digital version will launch with all eight Season One heroes, bringing the classic Dice Throne experience to screens across multiple platforms.
The reveal comes ahead of the game’s Kickstarter campaign launching April 14th, where fans will get their first deeper look at gameplay systems, development plans, and how the community can help shape the future of the platform.
Alongside the announcement, we also got our first look at the in-game character selection screens, giving players a glimpse at how these iconic heroes will appear when Dice Throne hits the digital arena.
Dice Throne Digital Launch Hero Roster
At launch, Dice Throne Digital will feature the complete lineup of Season One heroes, each bringing their unique dice mechanics, abilities, and playstyles from the tabletop game into the digital format.
The confirmed launch roster includes:
Barbarian
Monk
Moon Elf
Ninja
Paladin
Pyromancer
Shadow Thief
Treant
For longtime Dice Throne players, this lineup represents the core identity of the game’s earliest competitive matchups. Each hero offers a dramatically different playstyle — from the Barbarian’s high-risk, high-damage aggression to the Shadow Thief’s tactical manipulation and the Treant’s defensive control.
Because Dice Throne thrives on asymmetric hero design, having the full Season One cast available at launch gives players a strong pool of matchups to experiment with immediately.
Kickstarter Will Shape Future Heroes
While the Season One roster is confirmed for launch, the future hero lineup will be shaped by the community.
During the Kickstarter campaign, which launches on April 14th, backers will have opportunities to influence future content planned for Dice Throne Digital. This could include which heroes arrive next and what new features the team prioritizes after launch.
The development team has hinted that additional heroes and digital enhancements will depend heavily on Kickstarter support.
Bringing Dice Throne Full Circle
For Dice Throne co-creator Nate Chatellier, bringing the game into the digital space actually returns the project to its earliest concept.
“The story of Dice Throne Digital is really a full-circle journey. Manny Trembley and I originally conceived what became Dice Throne as a digital concept, but it was our journey onto the tabletop that truly defined us as creators.”
Over the years, Dice Throne has grown into one of the most recognizable modern tabletop combat games, expanding with numerous heroes and crossover content. But according to Chatellier, the move to digital is meant to expand the community rather than replace the tabletop game.
“Expanding into the digital space isn’t a pivot away from the table; it’s a milestone that honors our very first ideas. We’re taking everything we’ve learned from the tabletop world and bringing that magic into the digital realm to welcome even more players into this amazing community”
Cross-Platform Play Is a Major Focus
One of the biggest priorities for Dice Throne Digital is cross-platform matchmaking, allowing players across multiple devices to easily jump into matches together. When asked about the importance of cross-platform matchmaking:
“It’s extremely important, one of the main drivers of cross-platform support is reducing barriers to people playing together. Someone on their iPhone can play with someone on their laptop. It allows the focus to be on the fun, rather than the platform.”
This accessibility could make Dice Throne significantly easier for players to enjoy, particularly those who don’t have a local group to play with.
Digital Features May Expand After Launch
While the initial focus is delivering a polished core game experience, the team already has plans for potential digital-exclusive features in the future.
These could include cosmetic upgrades such as alternate skins, animated boards, and enhanced hero personality elements like voice lines or unique animations.
However, the speed at which these features are implemented will largely depend on the success of the Kickstarter campaign.
April 14th Is the Next Big Step
With the launch roster now revealed, the next major milestone for Dice Throne Digital will be its Kickstarter campaign beginning April 14th. For fans of Dice Throne, the digital adaptation could open the door to an entirely new way to experience the game. And with the full Season One roster ready to roll dice at launch, the digital arena is already shaping up to feel very familiar.
