Blade has officially joined the fight in Marvel Rivals Season 3.5: The Abyss Awaken, and this might be the most electric mid-season update yet. Kicking off August 8th, the update promises to shake up the battlefield with new heroes, new maps, new modes, and new mechanics, all wrapped in the kind of lore-fueled chaos that makes Marvel Rivals the PVP shooter to beat.
The Daywalker is Here
At long last, Blade, the legendary Daywalker, has joined the roster as a Duelist-class hero. Armed with a shotgun for brutal mid-range pressure and his Ancestral Sword to awaken his Dhampir bloodline, Blade thrives in the heart of the fight. And his ult draws the Sword of Dracula itself, dashing directly through his enemies.
Enter the Throne of Knull
With the Phoenix Force cracked and the King in Black rising, Season 3.5 dives headfirst into cosmic dread. A brand-new map, Throne of Knull, launches with a thrilling new mode: Resource Rumble—a dynamic, team-based match type that will first appear in Quick Match on August 22nd before expanding to Competitive.
QOL Changes
Marvel Games and NetEase are serious about community health. As of July 24th, automated voice chat screening with human moderation is live to help root out toxicity. Plus, you can now customize your own text chat filters, tailoring your in-game experience with mute word settings.
Also all you rage-quitters out there, leaving Competitive matches just got real. Season 3.5 introduces harsher quitting penalties, longer bans, and point deductions for leavers. But for those who stay and fight, even when the odds are stacked, there’s competitive point compensation waiting at the end of the match. Surrender votes will also be easier to trigger when you're down a player.
Say goodbye to some old favorites and hello to new combos. Duality Dance (Adam Warlock & Luna Snow) and Vibrant Vitality (Mantis & Groot/Loki) bring fresh power to your strategy. Blade also kicks off his team-up career by joining Lunar Force (Cloak & Dagger & Moon Knight), adding even more teeth to your squad.
Competitive Update
The action doesn’t stop in-game, watch it all explode at the Ignite Mid-Season Finals, August 6th–10th in Guangzhou, China. Ten elite factions from around the globe will battle it out for supremacy. Follow along on Marvel Rivals' socials and website for streams, updates, and highlights.
With its ever-evolving multiverse, hero additions, and a clear commitment to gameplay and community, Marvel Rivals Season 3.5 seems like it’ll be a nice refresher for the game. It’s a good time to jump back in if you’ve been looking for that excuse.
