If you’re someone who finds joy in playing games with friends that get arguments started, then I think I’ve found a new game for you. Pixel Maniacs’ latest title, Can’t Drive This is a new breed of racing game where the track is built in real-time. How is it built you ask? It’s done by player 2 as you’re tearing through it and trying not to die of course! Having a racing game with the added sense of not knowing what exactly lays ahead is a pretty nice touch. I can’t think of the last time a racing game gave me anxiety just by thinking about it.
The game features 2 player online multiplayer, 1-4 player split-screen, and cross-play between the PS4 and PS5. Even though the main gameplay element is that one player drives while the other builds, it can be played solo. It’s not clear how this is possible but I’ll just assume that there’s a randomized track that places itself in that instance. While it definitely sounds anxiety-inducing, I’d really like to try this out with some family members. It’s sure to be a unique game night if this is included.
Can’t Drive This is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch on March 19th!
