We live in an age of very few surprises and especially news of a good gaming value. Well, today that trend has been broken and we can’t wait! We got our hands on Crimson Moon at Summer Game Fest 2026 and walked away genuinely impressed. ProbablyMonsters' gothic high renaissance action adventure RPG plays like a game that has no business being priced at $19.99, but here we are.
You step into the role of the Nephilim, ruthless human angel hybrids forged to defend humanity, and carve your way through the besieged city in intense, replayable missions that blend brutal precision combat with deep character progression. The demo felt tight, responsive, and dripping with atmosphere, from the blood soaked streets to the towering architecture that makes every district feel like a dark painting come to life. Solo play is satisfying on its own, but co-op turns the whole thing into a shared onslaught of power that had our demo group grinning ear to ear. The structure is smart too: fight through three districts of Gildenarch in a row and you'll face a massive world boss, and only after defeating all three world bosses do you unlock the hellish final encounter. For twenty bucks, the amount of game here is almost absurd.
And then there's the soundtrack. ProbablyMonsters just announced that metal musicians HEALTH, Jared Dines (of YouTube and Oni fame), Misha Mansoor of Periphery, and Ricky Armellino of Ice Nine Kills are composing original tracks for the world boss and final boss encounters. Gothic renaissance visuals backed by original metal compositions from some of the genre's most creative voices is exactly the kind of unhinged creative energy this game radiates. Crimson Moon launches September 1 on PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S at $19.99 for the standard edition or $29.99 for the Deluxe Edition. At this price, with this quality, Crimson Moon is one of the easiest recommendations we've made all year. Let’s go!
