No matter what kind of gamer you are or what kind of games you like, there was plenty to love about SGF 2026 with a stunning array of variety from horrific to cozy. If you you thought the year was already packed, us gamers will be eating plenty good for the rest of 2026 and definitely into 2027.
Out of all of those titles announced and some that we got our hands on, these were my personal top 5.
1. Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis
While we can't share any specifics until embargo lifts, getting hands on with this title made me feel like a kid again. Best of Show. The team at Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog have clearly put everything they have into this reimagining of Lara's very first adventure, and it shows in ways I genuinely wasn't prepared for. Fast forward to 2027!
More details to come.
2. Aion 2
Gotta be honest here: I wasn't expecting much from Aion 2 going into the show, but I left absolutely blown away. Not only from the incredible graphics but the stellar presentation, amazing press materials, and a very passionate team behind it all. I went from "I'm curious" to "LET'S GO!" very, very quickly.
The September global launch is now locked in on my calendar, and this one has rocketed straight to the top of my most anticipated MMO list.
3. Capcom on Fire — Resident Evil: Code Veronica and Onimusha: Way of the Sword
Capcom was already on a roll and now these?! The excitement in the SGF Live theater was absolutely palpable when both titles were shown, and getting hands on with Onimusha sealed the deal completely. Way of the Sword is the first new entry in the series in ears, and it feels like it was worth every second of the wait: Brutal, stylish swordplay set in a demon-infested Edo-period Kyoto.
And then RE: Code Veronica kicks of the show on top of that? Capcom is genuinely not playing around right now. What a time to be alive.
4. Guild Wars 3
While not a ton of content was shown, what got me absolutely stoked again about MMOs. ArenaNet clearly understands what made the series special: No battle pass, no subscription, just a genuine love letter to the fans who have been there since day one.
As a huge fan of both GW1 and GW2, seeing this franchise come back swinging was one of the most feel-good moments of the whole weekend. The 2027 beta test cannot come soon enough.
5. Tie — The Blood of Dawnwalker and Valor Mortis
Two games, one slot, zero apologies. Dawnwalker looks absolutely incredible compared to those early trailers and the team from Rebel Wolves has clearly been cooking, and the updated trailer showing a level of polish and ambition that caught a lot of people off guard. With a September 3rd release date now confirmed, that month is going to hit hard.
Valor Mortis was right there with it: An updated demo and an incredibly passionate dev team on the floor made it impossible not to get hyped. A first-person melee soulslike set in Napoleonic Europe, from the creators of Ghostrunner? Yes please. Melee soulslike FTW.
BONUS: Crimson Moon
Oh yes, what a bloody good time. Stepping into the awesome demo area for ProbablyMonsters at SGF was a treat. A unique, challenging, and breath of fresh air action RPG like was just enough soulslike for the hard core and unique enough for newcomers or haters of the genre.
I had an absolutely blast with the upcoming title and can’t wait for more! This one needs to be on your radar ASAP as it releases this September! Even in a crowded month, this deserves your attention!
