Studio MDHR has decided to delay it's hyped platformer until 2017. The team behind the 1930's animation styled Cuphead released the following statement via their Facebook page...
Hey everyone, we wanted to finish our game 80 years after 1936 but it will now be 81. Throughout this year we discussed reducing the scope to make a 2016 release, but we made the difficult decision to delay the launch in order to ship with our vision intact. We are happy to announce that Cuphead will be coming to Xbox One, Windows 10 and Steam in Mid-2017. We are constantly humbled by your continued support. Love you all and can't wait to get this to you. Without further ado, we will get back to work!
When we last played Cuphead at E3 the team was working on implementing a couple platforming levels to break up the boss run game they had created so far. I enjoyed my experience, but I could see how adding a couple additional levels could provide a more fleshed out experience for some users.
The footage from PAX West doesn't look all that different than what I played at E3 so who knows what plans they have for the game? Perhaps the announcement that the game would be coming to Steam meant they were allowing extra time for a PC version to be developed.
I'm a little bummed out but it's not like I won't have a ton of games to occupy my time until then!
