I never thought we would see Daft Punk make their way into Fortnite, but here we are. Epic Games is bringing the Daft Punk Experience into the live-service shooter on September 27 — a move that’s pulling in both long-time players and newcomers, including those now joining the game through cheap Fortnite accounts.
The company made the announcement on the Fortnite website on Monday, describing the Daft Punk Experience as a “fully interactive playground that includes multiple rooms with different ways to experience Daft Punk’s music.” This includes creating original remixes of the French DJ duo’s songs in Dream Chamber Studios, creating a LEGO music video at Around the World, and heading to Robot Rock Arena to shoot soundwave lasers at robot hordes.
The post has since been deleted, but Wario64 shared screenshots of it on Bluesky. However, there’s one caveat: the Daft Punk Experience is not a sign that the duo is reuniting, nor will there be any new songs from them.
“The Daft Punk Experience is an immersive music experience based on the band’s beloved music,” Epic Games wrote in the FAQ section of the post. “The band is not getting back together.”
Daft Punk broke up in February 2021 after nearly 30 years of creating music together, producing hits like “One More Time,” “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger,” “Get Lucky,” “Around the World,” and “I Feel It Coming” — some of which ended up in DJ Hero and one of the Just Dance games. Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo gave no reason for splitting up Daft Punk, but they shared the announcement in the form of an eight-minute video called Epilogue, featuring a scene from the 2006 film Electroma in which the duo meet up in the desert and one of them self-destructs.
The grand opening for the Daft Punk Experience opens at 2 p.m. EST on September 27. If you’re a fan of Daft Punk, you might join the party 15 minutes early.
