It was just last week that THQ Nordic announced the Collector’s and Nephilim Editions for Darksiders Genesis, which we found out that the only real different between the two is that Nephilim will include the Darksiders: The Forbidden Land board game that was first featured at E3 2019. This is when we found that the Nephilim Edition will cost a whopping $380 USD making the technical cost of the board game to be roughly $250~ USD. I mentioned then that if this board game is ONLY going to be available in this limited Nephilim Edition, which will only have 5,000 copies, then it would be worth it to fans of the Darksiders series - well the news is out and the Darksiders Genesis: Nephilim Edition will, in fact, be the only way you can get your hands on the exclusive Darksiders: The Forbidden Land board game!
This board game is going to feature quite a few interesting aspects. For starters, it is a co-operative dungeon crawler board game for 1-5 players that will let players take on the role of their favorite Horseman and battle alongside your fellow Riders through an entirely new storyline set in the Darksiders universe. The fifth, and optional, player would be the Game Master. Without the game master, there are rules determining how the enemies of the Four Horsemen will behave, but with a game master controlling the monsters an extra level of challenge. It will also feature 61 incredibly detailed and pre-painted minis (seen above) alongside customization decks of cards for each Rider that will allow every playthrough bring about its own experience.
One of the main aspects that should interest future players of this board game is the Campaign Book. It will feature a unique, thrilling story over 19 levels that are grouped into multiple scenarios. Players will have the option to choose how long their game session is by playing through as few as a single level or completing a full campaign through the full list of nineteen levels. Not to mention that with such a variety of enemies and modular hex-tile game boards included in the game, there is room for fan-created levels and scenarios!
