The next entry in the Borderlands franchise has officially hit consoles and PC today. New Tales From The Borderlands is a new narrative adventure set within Gearbox Software’s post-apocalyptic universe. A new band of loveable misfits makes up the main cast this time around, but there are also a few familiar faces for longtime players and fans of the original Tales From The Borderlands.
New Tales From The Borderlands follows Anu, Octavio, and Fran as they each seek to realize their personal dreams. Along the way, they run afoul of dangerous bandits, cutthroat mercenaries, and horrifying monsters. As with the original game, New Tales From The Borderlands will feature impactful narrative decisions that allow players to alter the game’s ending.
The first Tales From The Borderlands was developed by Telltale Games and released its entire, five-episode run from November 2014 to October 2015. It followed Rhys and Fiona as they tried to deal with the consequences of discovering a secret Hyperion bunker and accidentally unleashing a digital copy of Handsome Jack. Rhys and his friend Vaughn would later appear in Borderlands 3.
The original series was widely lauded by both fans and critics, so Gearbox’s announcement of a successor was met with excitement across the Borderlands community. And even though New Tales From The Borderlands doesn’t directly continue the narrative from the first game, there’s always the possibility of Gearbox revisiting those plot threads in future installments.
New Tales From The Borderlands is available now for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. There’s a Standard Edition that includes the entire game and a Deluxe Edition that comes bundled with Tales From The Borderlands.
