For the first time in the franchise's history, Dynasty Warriors is going open world. Dynasty Warriors 9 will abandon the level based hack and slash formula for open world hack and slash that will allow players more discover and freedom to travel where they want. The Famitsu article that broke the announcement teased such features such as castle raids and grappling up the side of walls, but not too much information was given beyond that. We reported on this news late last year so we're kind of confused as to why it's trending again, but we'll roll with it.
