Grisly horrors in the deep vacuum of space will be coming very soon with EA’s Dead Space remake. The classic survival horror experience is returning to current-gen consoles to bring back those scarring memories from 2008. EA is hoping to reinvigorate the franchise with this new remake, probably taking a cue from Capcom and their success with the recent Resident Evil remakes. Check out the latest trailer debuting the best look at the game since its reveal.
The trailer shows off the remake’s revamped visuals and stunning lighting system. The gameplay shown is filled with gore, dismemberment, and zero gravity. Everything that fans of the original game will surely be happy to see that not much has changed. Key weapons from the original are shown in action such as the plasma cutter and the force gun. Isaac even has a few lines in the trailer, which is a welcome addition since he did not speak in the original game.
For those new to the series, Dead Space centers around Isaac Clarke, a space engineer, who is tasked with investigating a space carrier that had gone silent for some time. Isaac tags along with a rescue crew to aid in any repairs if necessary. Isaac also has a personal motive for joining the mission, as his girlfriend was working on the space carrier when it lost communication. Unfortunately, there is a sinister threat on board the ship that no one could have possibly prepared for.
One of the appealing factors of the original Dead Space, was the fact that you do not play as some gun-touting soldier or highly skilled government agent. You are an engineer with no combat experience or combat weapons at your disposal. Only your will to survive and the various engineering tools are the only things keeping you alive from the undead alien creatures.
Dead Space is launching on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and EGS on January 27th, 2023.
