Star Wars Battlefront II has just introduced a new update that changes the game’s progression system riddled with loot boxes. One of the biggest complaints from fans ever since the beginning was the problematic system to unlock iconic characters from the franchise such as Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader. Now, the new patch makes available every hero character in the game.
During the game’s pre-release period, gamer Conner Rust made simple calculations on how long one would need to invest in unlocking certain characters in the game. Rust concluded that players would need to chime in at least 40 hours of gameplay just to unlock characters such as Luke Skywalker.
Rust then took his discovery on Reddit that warranted the infamous response from an EA representative and became the most downvoted Reddit comment of all time. However, EA was quick to perform damage control by cutting the cost of unlocking heroes in the game, giving some players an advantage by just using real-world money to open hero characters Battlefront II.
Now, to overhaul the progression system in the game, Battlefront II has now unlocked all heroes and their ships.
“Along with these changes, we’ve also unlocked all currently available Heroes and Hero Ships for everyone,” says community manager Mat Everett in an official statement. “With all characters now having a Unit Level, we don’t want to limit anyone’s chance to progress as we change the way you interact with these characters.”
Starting today, you will only have to download a small patch before being able to access all the hero characters and their ships. Also, the patch includes the Cloud City of Bespin to the game as a map for the Blast Mode, Heroes v. Villains and Arcade mode.
