Indonesian developer Pendopo Studio and publisher Hitcents have announced the release of a free prequel to their upcoming action-adventure title, Rendezvous. Rendezvous: Shadows of the Past follows Setyo, the protagonist of the full game, as a ghost from his past upends his seemingly normal life as a security guard in Bay City.
He finds himself searching for his sister, which proves to be anything but easy. Players will need to explore an area of Bay City, look for clues, solve puzzles, and deal with dangerous individuals who might stand in the way. This can be done through stealthy subtlety or brute force. The games are presented in a 2.5D, pixel style with modern lighting and effects that make the visuals pop.
Rendezvous will take place in the grim neon dystopia of Neo-Surabaya, a futuristic imagining of the Indonesian city. In Rendezvous’ world, Neo-Surabaya stands as a cyberpunk metropolis where advances in technology have birthed a dark, gritty underworld of technological crime. Every corner carries the risk of danger: cybernetics-cannibalizing dealers, augmented thugs, and cyber-runner gangs are an ever-present threat. It’s likely Setyo will face them all before his search is over.
Rendezvous: Shadows of the Past is currently available for PC as a free download on Steam, and the full game is available to wishlist on the platform, with the release date yet to be confirmed.
