For a game that was originally released in 2003, it is pretty impressive to see a community still behind EVE Online. Better yet, developers CCP Games are still improving the game with fresh content for their player base and recently teased the next narrative-driven expansion called EVE: Uprising.
Uprising is a brand-new narrative-driven expansion for EVE Online launching in November, ushering in major improvements to Factional Warfare (FW), introducing a suite of new ships in addition to a plethora of balance changes to existing ships, corporation and alliance logos on your vessels as part of the introduction to heraldry, new visually immersive hangars, and more.
“Our goal with EVE: Uprising is to give our community more control over New Eden’s vast solar systems and strengthen their connection to others, whether they are NPC groups or fellow capsuleers,” said Bergur Finnbogason, EVE Online’s Creative Director. “The decisions that you, your friends, and your rivals make, will set the course for EVE’s future. Every in-game action and reaction holds weight, contributing to a domino effect of gripping outcomes.”
The first narrative arc has already begun with the discovery of an abandoned EDENCOM structure after its cloak began failing over a storm planet in the system of Athounon. Following a shocking incident involving a Stellar Harvester, New Eden’s cornerstone empires are pitted against one another in an arms race for system control. With the peace of New Eden disrupted, players choose their loyalties to determine the galaxy’s future. Each player's decision, action, and reaction affect how the final chapter unfolds.
You can check out the full breakdown of what’s new in the official Uprising blog post from the developers. Otherwise, here’s a quick look at EVE Uprising’s new features:
Advantage System: How players will claim territory on behalf of an empire
