While it may have launched on a rocky start, EA and DICE have been working on improving Battlefield 2042 for their fanbase and ongoing players. They are starting to focus on new players as well and have even opened up some temporary free-to-play weekends on all platforms. With the time limitation on these, here are the dates that you can hop on the battlefield yourself:
Xbox: Now until December 4th, Free Play Days
PC: Now until December 5th, Free Weekend
PlayStation: December 16th-23rd, Free Access
As they look forward to a new year in 2023, they have released a fully detailed developer blog featuring updates that will be coming next year. You can check all the details on their First Look at 2023 - Battlefield Briefing.
To summarize, Season 3 will bring new and improved Manifest and Breakaway maps, as well as a reintroduction of Classes. There will be details on Season 4’s offerings and a confirmation that Season 5 will be coming in 2023. Seasons 4 and 5 are both set to include a new Specialist, a new map, new hardware, a new Battle Pass, and more. Within the Briefing, the team teases that the map coming in Season 5 will be based on a battleground that last saw action in the Battlefield 4 era.
