We recently learned that Bloober Team and Anshar Studios plan bring Layers of Fear (2023) to players in June, which is also where we learned of the project’s slight name change. Now, they are back to show off a bit of what’s new in this game and why they are essentially remaking the series into one ultimate frightening experience.
The game introduces new core gameplay mechanics that elevate and expand the player’s experience. One such improvement is the addition of the lantern, a useful tool that will prove essential in confronting the fears that lurk within the game’s story. The music of the game has also been updated, as two-time Best Soundtrack nominee Arek Reikowski, has composed a hypnotic score that adds an extra layer of tension to the game.
Layers of Fear (2023) is being built in Unreal Engine 5 and supports Ray Tracing, HDR, and 4K resolution, making use of the Lumen system to achieve superb graphical fidelity and create a meticulously-refined horror journey that’s as immersive as it is frightening. With these improved visual aspects, the music update, improved and expanded gameplay, plus fresh content, all while being built in the new UE5 engine is adding up to an experience in this series that is sure to be better than it has provided before.
Layers of Fear (2023) will release this June on PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
