HALO INFINITE Season 4 Brings Portals, Infection, and Military Ranks

343 Industries has dropped a ten-minute video showcasing all of the biggest features coming to Halo Infinite Season 4. The preview video showcases some of the developers discussing what players can expect in the latest Seasonal update, including a returning fan-favorite game mode. Let’s dive into all the new goodies we can expect from this fresh update.

Infection

The classic game mode that has been a staple of the series since Halo 2. Infinite’s twist on the classic mode has a lore explanation for the infection taking place amongst the Spartans. The evil AI has hacked into some Spartan armor and is infecting other Spartans. These infected UNSC soldiers are easily distinguished by their flaming red energy sword and devilish face hologram of the Banished AI. In this mode, players will have to fight to be the last Sparatn standing and survive the round. Early reception of this mode has been very positive so far, as some players have been able to play the new infection mode at the recent Halo Championship event.

New HCS Skins

There will be new Halo Championship Series skins with their second bundle launching alongside Season 4. All bundles are geared toward weapons skins and will come with a free matching battle rifle skin. This was a hit with season 3 when they introduced the bundle so it seems like weapon skins are the way to go. I personally have my eyes set on th black and yellow variant sidekick. It is also good to notate that the majority of the profits will go to the respective teams.

New Arena Map: Forest

The newest map is taking some heavy inspiration straight from the Infinite campaign and sending Spartans to battle in the forest. Waterfalls, caves, and ruins are going to be the main theme of this new map and it is looking great. It will be interesting to see competitive play on this map with such an open area.

New Equipment: Quantum Translocator

Portals! Halo Infinite is adding a new power-up called the Quantum Translocator that will allow Spartans to strategize like never before! It works like a teleportation portal, where the player can pick a point of designation and instantly teleport back to that spot when the trouble gets rough. It will be interesting to see how players implement this equipment, especially in CTF.

Career Military Ranks

Finally, players will be able to maintain a career rank in Halo Infinite that they can show off pregame and on their profile. The career ranks are modeled after real military ranks, which is fitting for the Halo lore. Players begin with Bronze ranks and can work their way up to Onyx.
