The latest season has recently been released for the online cooperative Viking-themed survival game Tribes of Midgard and this time they have thrown the land of lava into the mix! Norsfell and Gearbox Publishing have recently brought the game a whole new patch of updates along with a bunch of new content, including a new saga boss!
Altogether, they have expanded the game for both Saga and Survival mode with multiple additions. Along with the Volcanic Spire biome, new Inferno saga quest, and a new ancient (the new term for Saga bosses in-game) Surtr, they have added some mechanic features. They added a Spear to the weapon list options and Fishing to the many tasks you can complete. They even revamped the Game Over screens!
As for the Survival mode specifically, it has been fully rebuilt from the ground up. No longer locked behind Season Level 2, there will be no village which means no village to defend at night, days will last longer at 20 minutes each, helthings will spawn sporadically throughout the environment at night but will not attack the Seed of Yggdrasil, Jötnar have their own Arenas that you can choose to travel to and defeat whenever you want. And that is just the core gameplay aspects.
Because of how much they re-worked the Survival mode, I suggest checking out the full update blog for all the details. All updated content is available on PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
Along with the new season, they are bringing some more unique content to the game. Starting today and running through September 12, players can look forward to new content and challenges to overcome:
Costumed Goblins and Unsunkens have invaded Midgard, eager to spread festive cheer (and pain!).
During the Anniversary Event, there will be three Festive Challenges that can only be completed during this limited-time event. Challenges will rotate weekly, and players who complete them can earn Platinum Coins and a unique Anniversary Portrait for your Viking.
New Pets & Cosmetics, which are Unlocked and available in the Shop now!
The mighty Ragnarooster has graced the Nine Realms with its presence to help celebrate this joyous occasion! Players can unlock four new “Rooster of Ragnarok” themed Pets and a Rooster-themed Armor Set.
Tribes of Midgard was released as a wonderfully reviewed game and with every update, it just seems to keep getting better! If you haven’t tried the game out yet, it is in its prime state right now and they have plans to bring more content to the game. Grab your Viking helms and your drinking horns; adventures calling!
