Hello Games says they will be updating No Man's Sky for the first time since September with some new content. The team detailed the update and what it will contain in an update from their official website...
"This week Hello Games will be releasing an update to No Man’s Sky. We’re calling it The Foundation Update, because we have added the foundations of base building, and also because this is putting in place a foundation for things to come."
The developers continued saying that they've been quiet in the face of feedback, but have been listening and described the experience as "intense" and "dramatic". It was about that point I felt the temperature start to rise in my face as the rant began forming in my head...
First off, the "intense" and "dramatic" nature of the criticism of your game was 100% due to you ignoring your community who purchased your game. Saying absolutely nothing for several months after release will never be well received and the fact they have the gall to make such a pompous statement shows Hello Games still is sticking to the story that they've done nothing wrong in the promotion of No Man's Sky.
Second, you released a statement saying you're going to be releasing an update that will lay the groundwork for future content. That's like being engaged to be engaged. No one expected new content from No Man's Sky...so why not announce the content when it's completed as opposed to announcing the beginning of you working on an update? It's like you're doing exactly what you did wrong with the game to begin with!
Guys, I get that not everyone clicks on these news posts for editorial content...BUT COME THE F*** ON. My only hope is that those of you who still play the game will be at least somewhat jaded before you let Hello Games begin to spoon feed you some bull shit again.
