Chip Theory Games, the game developer behind popular strategy board games like Too Many Bones and Cloudspire, is bringing a new board game to Kickstarter in 2021.
Hoplomachus: Victorum will be a stand-alone title that utilizes the combat system from previous Hoplomachus games, but there is a bunch of new content and game design that will make this an interesting game. It’s a solo game with all of the deep strategy and rewarding gameplay that CTG is known for.
Here’s the game’s setting:
The year is AD 79. Seers have learned of the imminent eruption of Mount Vesuvius, and those versed in the mystic arts have made invocations to stop the calamity from claiming thousands of lives. However, these actions have angered Pluto, the god of the underworld, who vows to usher in even greater destruction unless the earth’s strongest champions accomplish a series of tasks in a realm of grueling combat.
But this isn’t just a campaign for Victorum. Chip Theory Games will also be remastering the original Hoplomachus game, condensing all of the best content from the series into one epic box. That will also be part of the upcoming Kickstarter campaign, so gamers can get one or both of those next year.
