Dark Deluxy is a secret boss fight you can tackle right after defeating The Carving Man in Septemburg. You can access it by entering the door requiring two Spark Containers right after the Windy Generator and leading Luxy to the generator. Once you arrive, Luxy will be struck by lightning and will turn into Dark Deluxy. This is a difficult encounter, so if you need some help, here are some tips for defeating Dark Deluxy in Mina the Hollower.
Dark Deluxy boss guide in Mina the Hollower
The toughest part of the Dark Deluxy fight in Mina the Hollower is the steel ground that prevents you from burrowing. You can bounce off of it once, but that’s about it.
It’s important here to use sidearms like the Recall Disc that can benefit you in traversal. The Recall Disc allows you to place a portal and teleport to it on a whim, so if you find yourself backed into a corner by Dark Deluxy or her purple attacks, use this disc to teleport away.
When it comes to her moves, Dark Deluxy sprays a ton of purple orbs onto the playing field that can harm you if you touch them. Once emitted, these small orbs will stay in one area, so you don’t have to worry about them moving much.
I also recommend using a weapon that can help you move around the arena, like the Blackstrike Maul. When holding down its charge, you can roll around in the four cardinal directions. This allowed me to charge from a distance, then roll up to Dark Deluxy quickly while also avoiding the purple orbs.
Around half health, you’ll notice the wind pick up, and Mina will start moving with the wind. It’s not too strong, but just make sure you’re not healing near the edge and risk falling off.
Things start to pick up when Dark Deluxy is at low health. She will emit the orbs in waves around her, so take your time dodging them and wait for her to stop to actually lay a hit on her. She also likes to fly quickly across the arena, three times in succession, and leaves behind a trail of orbs. This one is hard to avoid since she comes out of nowhere, so expect to get hit at least once.
With all that in mind, you should be able to eventually take down Dark Deluxy. Once she’s down, she’ll request a Plasma Vial which, if you use it beside her, will heal her and turn her into Deluxy.
Now that you’ve defeated Dark Deluxy and healed her, you can start considering the best modifiers to use in Mina the Hollower to enhance your gameplay experience.
