How to Beat the Carving Man in Mina the Hollower

The third main area you’ll be tackling in Mina the Hollower is Septemburg, and its citizens are being terrorized by a monster called The Carving Man. You’ll meet him about halfway through this region, and he’ll stalk you throughout Septemburg until his boss fight at the end. He’s certainly tougher than the likes of Nox’s Beast, so here’s a helpful guide on how to beat The Carving Man in Mina the Hollower.

The Carving Man boss guide in Mina the Hollower

There are a few strategies when it comes to fighting The Carving Man, namely having the right sidearm, mastering movement with your weapon, and dodging its lightning moves.

At the beginning, The Carving Man will be able to side-step pretty far through the arena while also swiping at you. Use the vertical length of the arena to rush out of his way. Speaking of dodging out of his way, I used the Recall Disc that you can pick up outside the closest Underlab. It allows you to place a portal that you can instantly teleport to when needed.

When The Carving Man is around half health, he will start using his lightning moves. The first one is circling waves of electricity that you should focus on jumping over instead of risking hitting them (unless you have a longer-ranged weapon). Another lightning move has him pushing out waves from his center, so keep your distance and jump over them until he’s done.

At low health, you’ll notice that lightning is about to strike. You’ve already had experience with the lightning mechanic on your way to this boss fight, but you may not realize that to avoid getting struck, stand close enough to The Carving Man. He will be struck by the lightning instead, but make sure not to get hit by him when up close.

Once you finally beat The Carving Man, you should make sure by this point you’ve acquired a map in Mina the Hollower.
