Tytos is one of the three main villains you come across during the first dozen hours of Octopath Traveler 0. Being the Master of Power among the Masters of Wealth, Fame, and Power, this boss battle can be a difficult one if you’re not prepared.
You must beat Tytos in two separate phases, unlike most enemies you’ve faced so far. Even if you’re at the right level, this fight can be arduous depending on your party members and the skills they possess. This guide will help you take down Tytos in Octopath Traveler 0 so you can continue the story.
How to defeat Tytos in Octopath Traveler 0
Tytos has two phases. Here’s how to tackle each of them.
Commander Tytos (Phase 1)
Commander Tytos is easier to defeat as it’s the first phase of this boss battle, but don’t underestimate him. He has an abundance of shields, and he’s weak to Polearm, Dagger, Bow, Wind, and Light damage. At this point, Phenn may be the only character who can use wind skills, but plenty of characters use daggers and bows.
One of the more annoying attacks is when Tytos inflicts terror on your party members, meaning they cannot gain BP or use these boost points. Try to have healing items that can cure terror, such as Herb of Valor, or at least swap to characters in the back row who haven’t been inflicted.
Tytos the Thunderblade (Phase 2)
The second phase has you facing Tytos the Thunderblade, who has even more shields — but luckily, he has the same weaknesses. If you have equipment that protects against thunder damage, equip it before this fight, as he has an attack that deals massive thunder damage.
The main difference in this second phase is that Tytos places an energy-draining barrier that drains 1 BP per turn from everyone in the front row. Try to have characters in the front row who aren’t focused on breaking Tytos’ shields, as your front row characters can swap places with people in the back row who have accumulated enough BP to destroy his shields.
When you see Tytos ready an attack, that’s when you have to break his shields before he dishes out a devastating attack. If you won’t have enough time to do so, make your front row characters defend themselves to sustain some damage from the attack.
With these tips in mind, you should be able to defeat Tytos with ease. Speaking of beating bosses, you can now learn how to beat Auguste the Playwright in Octopath Traveler 0.
