Kumi Souls Games and publisher Playstack are bringing us the newest soulslike addition in the form of a metroidvania sidescroller. With heavy inspiration from gothic art, ranging from Castlevania-esque themes and combat, this title looks to be bringing the big guns. The Last Faith aims to please fans of both genres and focuses on precise combat.
Players can expect an uphill battle, focusing on precise combat and well-timed inputs. A multitude of executions will be available in the game, allowing for some up-close and personal finishers. Platforming also seems to be present, showing off a good mix of things to come. The trailer depicts the main protagonist, Eric, jumping between giant blades and traversing ladders surrounded by flames.
The giant oversized bosses, spells, and multitude of weapons really shine in the trailer and give off that soulslike flare. Players will slash, stab, incinerate, and explode their way through the game with what appears to be a lot of freedom for combat experimentation.
With a nonlinear expiration theme, The Last Faith has us intrigued and wanting more. These metroidvania-style titles have been very popular lately and with the added twist of a soulslike design, we are interested to see how this one holds up.
The Last Faith is currently in development for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. It is set to launch later this year.
