Both fit right into Lorcana’s tone of fantasy and discovery, offering fresh glimmers that feel distinct from the usual roster.
And of course, no mystery is complete without detectives. Zootopia’s Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde join the lineup. It’s perfect timing too—with the duo’s next film on the horizon, it’s a fun crossover that connects the world of Lorcana to what’s happening in theaters. What are the new mechanics in Whispers in the Well?
Mechanically, Whispers in the Well introduces something completely new to the game: Whispers. These cards are mysterious, half-formed versions of beloved characters—glimmers that feel caught between worlds. I’m thinking of trying to build a ghosty Whisper deck if there are enough supporting cards!
That’s where the new Boost mechanic comes in. To Boost a Whisper, players place cards from their deck beneath it, unlocking additional abilities or enhancing existing ones. It’s a simple concept that opens up a lot of creative strategies. Do you invest early to power up your Whisper and risk losing resources, or do you hold back and play it safe? That push-and-pull decision-making is what keeps Lorcana engaging, and Boost looks like it’ll add even more layers to that experience.
It’s also worth noting how Boost ties into the set’s theme. These Whispers aren’t fully formed, and that’s mirrored in the gameplay—players literally “feed” them energy and strength from their deck. It’s smart, thematic design that feels like a story unfolding right on the table.

Players can get their hands on Whispers in the Well early at local game store prerelease events starting November 7th, with the full retail release following on November 14th.
What’s next for Lorcana?
After the dust settles from Whispers in the Well, the next set on the horizon is Winterspell, a winter-themed expansion packed with charm (and probably chaos). Expect glimmers from Darkwing Duck (one of my favorite Disney series) and Lilo & Stitch: The Series to make an appearance—two properties that bring a fun mix of humor and heroics to the colder months. Whether it’s snowball fights or icy battles for lore, it sounds like a cozy follow-up to all the mystery we’re getting here. Winterspell prereleases on February 13th, 2026, with a full release on February 20th.
And then, as if that weren’t enough, Q2 2026 will bring Pixar’s worlds into Lorcana for the first time. Wilds Unknown is set to feature iconic characters like Woody, Buzz, and the rest of the toy box crew—each reimagined through the lens of Lorcana’s glimmer style. Pixar’s emotional storytelling mixed with the game’s magical tone sounds like a perfect fit, and it’s an exciting sign of just how broad Lorcana’s future could be. Just like we saw Disney Villainous’ first live-action villain, could it be long before we see the first live-action character in Lorcana?
