Yes, you’ll always hear about games like Gloomhaven, Frostpunk, and every new Zombicide game as they appear on Kickstarter, but Ludus Magnus Studio has become more successful with every campaign. The board game publisher has released well-known games like Dungeonology and Black Rose Wars, but they have returned to the game that launched their Kickstarter success in 2016—Nova Aetas.
Nova Aetas: Renaissance will implement all of the things the design team has learned over the last five years and create a richer, more impressive tabletop experience.
The game takes place in a fantasy Italian Renaissance, infused with magical, mysterious, and mythical events. While it’s loosely based on the 16th-century war between Rome and Venice, there are many narrative deviations that help bring a unique sense of wonder to the Nova Aetas world.
As I mentioned, Nova Aetas: Renaissance is a reimplementation of the original game and it’s been improved to provide a historical Italy as you’ve never seen with a cast of characters that you won’t forget. The real world and the imaginary crash together here into an epic tabletop adventure.
And it looks really exciting. One of the biggest draws—and most frustrating limitations—is the exclusive nature of the Ludus Magnus Studio campaigns on Kickstarter. This game will not appear at retailers. You won’t see this at your friendly local game store (unless they back the campaign as well). It’s only going to be on Kickstarter.
Anyone else suffering from some FOMO?
So if you think this is the kind of game that you’ll want to play, you should seriously consider backing it because it won’t be around forever. Check it out on Kickstarter now and see other projects from Ludus Magnus Studio.
