Making a game based on uncomfortable and painful stigma’s that has enough truth and despair to conversations around the subject matter can be a touchy goal to reach. However, the development team simply known as LKA are no strangers to this as they created The Town of Light previously. Once again, they are working with publisher Wired Productions to bring this touchy topic influenced corner of psychological gaming to the next-gen console Xbox Series X, as well as, PC via Steam.

Taking place in 1944 Tuscany, amidst the clash of powers brings the threat and devastation of war, a twin sister finds herself dealing with the fallout of her sister's murder. After Martha was found dead, drowned and desecrated, by the side of a lake in the depths of an Italian countryside, she can’t help but continue to wonder why this has happened.

Aside from that small bit of detail and the original teaser, we don’t know much more about the story as even the trailer below is a bit vague. We can deduce that the gameplay is likely to be similar to the exploration and story experience style of their previous game based on this quote from the Steam page: “Martha is Dead is an exploration of loss, relationships and the psychological undertones of a dark period of history through the eyes of a young woman who seeks the truth, but who also has secrets of her own to hide.” So, at least we know what we have coming in 2021, and as a fan of this team’s original game, I am definitely intrigued to know more.
