Mortal Shell 2: Where to Get the Ballistazooka

After purchasing the map for a weapon or sidearm in Mortal Shell 2, you don’t always know exactly how to find the item in question. It’ll give you a general search area, and even if you find the dungeon, it may force you to solve a strange puzzle or beat a difficult boss. In the Ballistazooka’s case, it’s both tough to find and has a nasty boss in your way. We’ll explain how you can easily get the Ballistazooka in Mortal Shell 2.

Where to find the Ballistazooka in Mortal Shell 2

You can get the Ballistazooka sidearm in Mortal Shell 2 by entering the Sentry’s Grave dungeon that’s near the Gate of Mammon Beacon. The entrance is southwest of the Outskirts of Mammon Beacon and under the tall spire with a merchant trading goods up top.

You’ll find it either by walking down from the very top of the spire or walking up from the village with all the casket enemies. Once you enter this dungeon, you’ll have to either run past or fight the enemies with ballistas strapped to them that can singe you with Lightning damage.

I recommend avoiding these guys, as you’ll want to save your strength and heals for the last fight in the dungeon. These enemies are everywhere, but they don’t move around much and make an audible sound before shooting at you, so it’s easy to dodge.

Make it all the way to the room with the long hallway, and you’ll eventually see the Subjugated Guardian’s health bar show up. Ignore everyone shooting at you, as they are unreachable, and reach the boss room.

How to beat the Subjugated Guardian

You can beat the Subjugated Guardian fast by ignoring the weaker ballista enemies around you and focusing on the boss. If you tend to catch fire a lot, equip the Burnt Effigy item to mitigate burning damage, as the Subjugated Guardian’s attacks leave behind flames.

The ballista shots are easier to dodge than you may think. Whenever you hear the taut of the ballista string, dodge out of the way, and you’ll likely avoid it. With the Subjugated Guardian, though, you’ll want to avoid the area he’s aiming at entirely to not catch fire.

He doesn’t have much mobility, and I eventually trapped him in the back where it was harder for the other enemies to hit me. When you hear the Subjugated Guardian groan, that’s when you know he’s about to shoot. He’ll also pull his head back a bit, which is another indicator.

He’s open to attacks anytime else, so swing at him and dodge if he tries headbutting you. Eventually, you’ll take him down, giving you the Ballistazooka as a reward. You can then immediately teleport back to this dungeon’s entrance and equip your new sidearm. The Ballistazooka has fewer shots and takes longer to aim, but it deals a good amount of damage in return.

Mortal Shell 2 is available now on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
