Mortal Shell 2: Where to Get the Clockwork Scythe and Caged Hystrix

The Clockwork Scythe and Caged Hystrix are melee and sidearm weapons, respectively. These two Mortal Shell 2 weapons can be a great addition to your arsenal, providing you with new ways to beat down your foes. We’ll help you figure out how to get the Clockwork Scythe, as well as the Caged Hystrix, from the same dungeon in Mortal Shell 2.

Where to find the Clockwork Scythe and Caged Hystrix in Mortal Shell 2

You can find the Clockwork Scythe in the Chamber of Becoming Dungeon in Mortal Shell 2. This dungeon is in the southern region of the map, past the Silent Steps Beacon. It’s quite easy to get there from that Beacon. Just take the teleport gate up to the fortress, then climb the long steps blocked by the enemy that rolls at you with spikes protruding from it.

You can just ignore this guy, so dodge out of the way and keep heading up the stairs until you make it to the statue. Go behind the statue, and the entrance to this dungeon is just below.

As soon as you enter and take the elevator down, you’ll be met with the boss of this dungeon, Sariel, the Endless. He wields the Clockwork Scythe himself, and the only way to obtain it is to defeat him.

How to beat Sariel, the Endless

To beat Sariel, the Endless in Mortal Shell 2, make sure you’ve equipped the Galvanic Shard for Lightning mitigation. No matter whether it’s as a Passive or Active effect, you’ll be inflicted with Lightning damage anytime Sariel hits you, which slowly drains your health.

In the first room, you’ll want to get Sariel to nearly half health, as he will proceed to the next room to continue the fight from there. I was able to use a special Tarstone ability with my Forgotten Crossbow that immediately got his health to half and brought me to the next stage, so try not to get too damaged during the first stage.

After getting Sariel to the second stage, he’ll disappear, leaving a trail to the next room. There’s a trick to this room which I noticed after killing Sariel; he’ll respawn in the center of the room with full health. I believe that the only way to stop this is by breaking all four lit stones standing in each corner.

They’re connected to the center, and after breaking them all, I never had trouble with Sariel respawning again. I found it tricky to hit them with a weapon attack, so I shot most of them from the vantage point up top with my sidearm before jumping down and breaking the last two.

You can now defeat Sariel like normal. Just be careful of his ranged homing attacks and his Lightning melee attacks, as he can be unpredictable with his swings.

Eventually, you’ll defeat Sariel and get his Clockwork Scythe as a reward. This dungeon also grants you Sariel’s Shell and a sidearm called the Caged Hystrix, so be sure to grab those before exiting the dungeon!

Mortal Shell 2 is available now on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
