Following their Winter of Fear event, Modiphius Entertainment is preparing to release a whole new campaign in the world of Achtung! Cthulhu, the eldritch horror tabletop role-playing game (TTRPG) series. This new campaign is called Forest of Fear and it will launch players into an epic late-era Secret War adventure that takes them inside the covert offensive during the Battle of the Bulge!
In Achtung! Cthulhu’s pulp-influenced world of brave Allied heroes, secret agents, mysterious mystics, and dauntless two-fisted adventure, players take on the roles of Allied servicemen and women, secret agents, members of the French Resistance — or even hapless civilians caught up in the wider conflict. All stand firm against the twisted might of the Nazis and their occult forces, including the Cult of the Black Sun, who wield foul magic and summon ancient horrors in their bid to unleash Yog-Sothoth and Nachtwölfe, the Night Wolves, who place their trust in weird science and wonder weapons to prevail.
For this new campaign, set in December 1944, the Allied advances after D-Day come grinding to a halt on the borders of Germany. Concealed within the main assault, a Nazi scientist known as “The Blackbird” plans to unleash his legion of monstrous panzers and terrifying new shock troops to cut a swathe through the allied lines. But other forces are also astir beneath the boughs of this ancient woodland, as a sinister and evil cult seeks to revive an ancient Godling and unleash madness and death. As these powerful forces contend, Section M dispatches a crack team of experienced agents to investigate. Can they thwart the Nazi occult’s plans and foil the awakening of the Slumbering Horror, or will they, like so many others, succumb to the Forest of Fear?

Cthulhu: Forest of Fear will include 11 missions - including a cursed monastery, an ancient and foreboding under city, and the final confrontation at the Blackbird’s nest - and free PDF of the 50-page standalone adventure or prologue mission, Assault on the Fuhrer Train which sees resistance agents raid Hitler’s personal armored express. There will also be an array of awesome art, maps, playing aids, GM tips, and handouts to bring the Forest of Fear to life.
